This one was based on probably my favorite artwork of the bunch: "Small Portrait" by Kay Sage. I loved Sage's work as soon as I saw it; unlike Carrington or Varo, for instance, whose work feels rather mystical and witchy, Sage seems most likely to portray, say, the innards of machinery, and I dig that. I was lucky to also see one of hers in person last spring, at the Whitney. The painting that informed this track is just badass and unnerving and brought out of me what sounds like a bagpipe dirge hanging over a growling undercurrent.
A moody, enveloping record from Zane Coppard, where dense and intricately crafted atmospheres cradle yearning vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 1, 2021
Intimate pop; Bollinger's vocals sound almost confidential as she muses on relationship neuroses over woozy, breezy instrumentation. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 18, 2019
