Dorothea Tanning does have a thing for domestic interiors as well as childlike figures, neither of which is usually my cup of tea as painting subjects go - but her takes are attuned to banal horrors and say loads about three P's: puberty, potential, and predation (not to mention exhaustion). So she's sort of an exception to my normal tastes.
Her "Eine Klein Nachtmusik" might be the most likely of all the works I looked at to be recognized by the average citizen - in other words, a relatively mainstream hit - but with all its vague suggestions, oppressively rich tones, and the bedraggled heaviness of that godforsaken sunflower, it just haunts me.
A moody, enveloping record from Zane Coppard, where dense and intricately crafted atmospheres cradle yearning vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 1, 2021
Intimate pop; Bollinger's vocals sound almost confidential as she muses on relationship neuroses over woozy, breezy instrumentation. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 18, 2019
